Ge You’s Personal Life and Acting Career
Ge You’s parents were both actors in the film industry and his father Ge Cunzhuang was famous in his own right. After China’s cultural revolution Ge You was chosen to China’s National Drama Troupe. His performances with the troupe were propaganda operas and stage plays and he made the transition from stage to film in the late 1980’s.
His first notable film role was “The Ballad of the Yellow River” (1989)where he had a supporting role. Ge you achieved international recognition in 1993 with “Farewell, My Concubne). Since then he has had a string of leading and supporting roles in many successful films and earned himself the distinction of being one of China’s top actors.
