Shu Qi is a Taiwanese actress who started her career in soft porn movies and has gone on to become one of China’s leading female film stars. Acting Career
Shu Qi stared her career in entertainment with soft core porn modelling in 1993 when she moved from Taiwan to Hong Kong at the age of 17. She appeared on the covers of Penthouse Hong Kong and Chinese Playboy. Her acting career began in 1996 with the help of her new manager Manfred Wong who signed her up for several Hong Kong soft core Hong Kong movies. One of those movies was Sex & Zen II which was a hit and gained a cult following.
Using her acting talents and attractive appearance, Shu Qi quickly gained lead roles in Hong Kong and mainland Chinese films. One of er first major mainstream movies was Gorgeous (1998) with Jacky Chan. She starred as the female lead in the Western hit movie “The Transporter” along side Jason Stratham.
Some of Shu Qi’s more recent films include “You are the One 1 and 2” with You Ge and A Beautiful Life with Liu Ye. Her roles range from gun fighting and martial arts to romantic comedy and drama and she is now one of China’s most bankable actresses.
