Yang Mi is one of China’s talented new actresses and a singer of note who started acting at the age of four. Having just graduated from China’s famed Beijing Film Academy and starring in at least 6 big budget movies in 2012, Yang Mi is one of China’s hottest movie stars.

Background
Yang Mi was born to a police officer father and a house wife mother and is the only child in her family. Her early childhood was filled with acting and television appearances and she went into semi retirement at the age for of 7 for 10 years. She came out of retirement at the age of 17 and enrolled at the Beijing Film Academy in 2005 at the age of 19.

She is currently in a relationship with actor and singer Hawick Lu that started in 2012 and he has bought her a home in Hong Kong so she does not need to stay at hotels. They currently have no plans to get married.

Acting Career
Yang Mi’s first introduction to acting happened when she was barely out of nappies and her parents signed her up for a television training course held by China Children’s Film Studio. This eventually led to her first screen role at the age of four in the TV series “Tang Ming Huang”in 1993 where she played the Princess Xian Ning. Tang Ming Huang later went on to become a famous television series. Next Yang Mi acted in the 1993 television series “Hou Wa” and won two awards. Around this time Yang Mi also appeared in a hit Stephen Chow movie “King of Beggars” (1992) as Beggar So’s daughter.

After the resumption of her acting career at the age of 17, Yang Mi appeared in the classic TV series “Return of the Condor Heroes” (2006).  This role made her a hit with audiences and established her career in TV. A key point in Yang Mi’s acting career was when she was cast for a role in the TV drama series “Wang Zhao Jun” (2007) ahead of Fan Bingbing and Li Bingbing and several other well known Chinese actresses. Yang Mi’s popularity has soared as she continued to appear in hit TV series such as Chinese Paladin 3 (2009) and box office hit movies such as the horror movie “Mysterious Island” (2011) and “Painted Skin: The Resurrection” (2012).
